RARE:  Rescue and Retrieval Extractions

-they took on the missions that
no one else wanted and did not
stop until the job was done

After a long stint in the military, Phoenix hooked up with RARE so he could continue to do what he did best…..Rescuing people and dispensing punishment to those who deserved it.  However, lately he had been feeling like something was missing in his life.
Serenity had been running for several years from her pack who wanted to use her for her special healing abilities, and from a psychotic wolf shifter who insisted she was his mate.  She had not realized there were worse things to be running from until she was kidnapped by the General’s men.  After several months of being held in captivity, a rescue attempt was made by RARE at the facility where she and several other women were being held.  During the chaos, Serenity and one of the RARE team members were taken by the General.  Once Phoenix finds out Serenity is his mate, nothing will stop him from finding her and freeing her.
When Serenity’s demons from her past come back to haunt her, Phoenix must keep her safe not only from the General, but also from her past if they want a future together.

Amazon:

I have a wonderful, supportive husband and three beautiful children.  I enjoy spending time with all of them which normally involves some baseball, shooting hoops, taking walks, watching movies, and of course reading.
My passion for reading began at a very young age and only grew over time.  Whether I was bringing home a book from the library, or sneaking one of my mom's romance novels and reading by the light in the hallway when we were supposed to be sleeping, I always had a book.
I read several different genres and subgenres, but Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense have always been my favorites.  I read anything by Katie Reus, Lora Leigh, J.R. Ward and Rebecca Zanetti.
I have always made up my own stories, and have just recently decided to start sharing them.  I hope everyone enjoys reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

Nico's Heart by Dawn Sullivan

I was gifted “Nico’s Heart” by Dawn Sullivan for an honest review.  This is the first book in the RARE (Rescue and Retrieval Extractions) Series.  I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down.

Nico is part of the RARE team that goes where they are needed in order to save whoever is in danger.  Being a RARE member takes a lot of planning on their part when it comes to saving an innocent’s life.  Each member has a special ability that helps them.   Some of the team members are shifters while others have different abilities.  One day the team gets a call from Jenna requesting their help locating her daughter that is missing.  Just from the phone call alone Nico knows that the team must take the call because Jenna is his mate and he will do whatever he can to make her happy.

This book also introduces the characters for the rest of the series. There is Angel, Rikki, Trace, Jaxson, and Phoenix who are all part of the RARE team.

5 Stars

This was an awesome read. The language is free flowing, modern and a quick read. I liked the multiple points of view from both Dean and Anna.  Anna is a typical overachiever straight A middle-class High School girl who is worried about college applications with a snarky best friend named Katie.  Dean has had a lot of rough breaks and has been living on the streets.  While they are close in age, these two are worlds apart. Their worlds collide, literally but will either one let the other into their lives. Anna is scared of becoming too involved and steering off her straight and narrow path to the Ivy League.  Dean is scared of becoming attached to anyone or anything after he has lost so much.  Misconceptions, stereotypes and fear have created walls but sometimes the smallest things can be the gateways to greatness. This book while a romance can be shared with all ages, as I felt the humbleness and subject matter are appropriate for young adults and mature audiences alike.

Slowly, Anna and Dean let each other in, blending their two worlds into one. But when a series of events brings Dean’s world into perspective, he pushes Anna away. Not willing to accept the line that divides them, Anna sets out to bring Dean back to her. Her determination and faith in their future puts her on the tracks of danger, and he is the only one who can save her.
