“Will you just leave already?” I demand, swiping at my tears and feel the welcomed anger eclipse the pain of hurt. Orion looks at me in surprise for a moment then his eyes darken, determination setting in, there is no other way to describe it. He nods once then climbs over the bed and backs me against the wall, crowding me in. “Now you listen, Tiger, I thought I had made myself abundantly clear, and I don’t wish for you to misunderstand again.” Orion takes a deep breath as I hardly dare to breathe. “I have loved you almost since that first look where you sized me up, your amazing mind deciding whether or not to rabbit. I have loved you almost from the moment you looked at me with those big, beautiful eyes, confused as I called you beautiful.” His finger gently caresses my cheek and jawbone. Feeling slightly light headed from lack of oxygen, I suck in a deep breath, letting it out shakily as I see the emotion he talks of in his eyes. “I have loved you from the moment you cared for Lothar, a male you didn’t know, as sweetly as if he were your lover. His expression is pained when he pulls back. “There is nothing for me to do here, for the moment, that’s what I meant. I just want you safe, I don’t know how I could live if something happened to you.” Relief so great spreads through me making my body tingle, and I slump a little realizing that what I heard was not at all what he meant, and after the relief comes the familiar love that I have been pushing back. “I love you too, Orion. Though it scares me,” I whisper. Orion tenses then forces my chin up to look at him. “I would never leave you willingly, never. I want all of you, always.”

“Cord, come dance with me,” I suggest, sliding out of my chair and holding my hand out to her.

She looks up at me in surprise then blushes and reaches her good hand up to clasp mine and we head to the dance floor. The music has all been slower songs, which is good because with her broken arm Cord wouldn’t be able to get too crazy.

I slide one arm around her waist and pull her against me while taking her free hand in mine. We sway to the music and I notice the beat changes into another song which is a bit faster, so I dip Cord back then nudge her gently with my arm at her waist while pulling her other arm, making her go in a circle before pulling her body back up against mine.

She giggles. “This is fun, and you’re quite good,” she says smiling up at me. “Even with my bum arm.”

I smile back and respond, “thank you.” Then we continue on, me dipping, swaying, pushing away pulling her back against me. I twist her so that her back is against me and we sway in time to the music. I drop my head against her shoulder and lay my cheek against hers.

“You’re pretty good at this yourself,” I say into her ear and feel her body tremble against mine as she lays her head back against my chest. ““Even with your bum arm.”

We sway a bit more, before I spin her around again and dip her before bringing her up against my body, lifting her to where her face is close to mine. We are still swaying slightly as the music changes again, and then, looking into her eyes and her flushed face, I lean closer, my eyes falling to her lips.

I feel her take in a breath and hear it catch in her throat. I release her hand and slide both of my arms around her, one on her waist and the other around her back. Her hand moves to my shoulder and I feel her pull me closer. My eyes flick back up to hers, which are locked onto my mouth. Without another thought, I lean in and press my lips against hers softly. My hand moves to her nape as I cradle her against me.

I feel a shock at the first touch of our lips and then I feel Cord press herself even closer to me as she pulls at my shoulder. She is everything I have been wanting and more than I had hoped for. Her lips are soft and warm, molding against mine; her body is lean and muscled, though still soft. Her hand moves up to my hair and she lightly scratches my scalp and I moan into her mouth feeling the touch all throughout my body.

I move my lips against hers, lightly swiping my tongue against her lower lip, coaxing her to open for me. She does, sucking in a shuddering breath, and I thrust my tongue into her mouth. I feel as well as hear her groan in to my mouth as she angles her mouth against mine.

I pull back from her mouth and move to her neck, lightly leaving open- mouthed kisses along her jaw and neck. I have waited years to finally kiss her, and I have wanted her more the last few days. “Cord,” I whisper and I feel her body stiffen.

I pull back and look at her in question. She looks up at me with indecision all over her face, though I can see the desire in her eyes.

I round the corner to the living room and I see Trev lying on the sofa, asleep. I stop and stare; I’ve never noticed how incredibly handsome he is. I mean of course he is cute, but Jaiden is closer in age to me and I have hung out with him more than Trevor. I study him as he lies perfectly still, the only movement coming from him his chest raising and lowering with each breath.

He has strong features, a square jaw and smooth skin, with high cheekbones. His hair is short and mocha colored, his eyes, if they were open, are a stunning sky blue. Jaiden’s eyes are green, if I remember correctly. Trev is a little taller than J, probably six foot six or seven, and built.

He may be a Secret and not a Rector but we would be evenly matched if we were to fight. His chest is broad and muscular, his biceps are huge, and in the t-shirt he’s wearing it looks like they are trying to break free. The bottom hem of the t-shirt has ridden up and his skin is tanned and chiseled, with just a slight trail of hair disappearing under his jeans. While I’m staring at his abs, I notice his breathing has changed. I bring my gaze back to his face and he is looking at me in a demure, almost coy way. If I were to have been standing here checking out Jaiden his face would have been full of arrogance with a haughty smile, knowing he’s gorgeous of course. With Trev, he’s almost asking with his eyes if he is good enough.

“Um,” I say clearing my throat, feeling my face heat. “I knocked, but you didn’t answer, it was unlocked,” I say, gesturing at the door. “I’m early, so I thought I would just come over. I’m sorry to have woken you.”

I look down, feeling bad for not thinking of his need for sleep, he still has dark circles under his eyes. I should have walked back out instead of ogling him while he slept.

“Cord,” he says, waiting for me to look up. I finally meet his eyes and he continues. “It is okay, really, you don’t have to apologize.” He stands from the sofa. “I was just waiting for you, and I apparently fell asleep.”

For some reason my belly flutters when he says he was waiting for me. Don’t be stupid, I tell myself; of course he’s waiting for you, he told you to be here at four. I mentally chastise myself and answer him.

“Yeah, okay. Do you need help carrying anything?” I ask, trying to steer the conversation elsewhere.

“Nope, I’ll grab my bag and be right back, we can get going early,” he says, smiling at me then leaving the room.

I sit down on the sofa to wait for him, and sift through the feelings that are floating through me. I haven’t really noticed Trev before, he has always been around, but I have always been so focused on J that Trev never stood out. He sure does now. I feel my cheeks heat again and I duck my head to hide it even though I’m alone.
