Sales Blitz: Kismet by A.E. Woodward

Kismet Banner Kismet Goodreads
Katie’s world came crashing down in an instant.

Her husband, daughter, and unborn baby. . . all gone in a flash. The life that she’d come to know, gone before she ever really got to live it.

With a broken heart, she deals the only way she knows how, by shutting it all off. No communicating, no feelings, just pure nothingness.

Alone with nothing but her own thoughts and a well meaning family, she moves back to her childhood home, a horse farm. It’s there that she finds herself healing along with the horses her family rehabilitates. But when Parker McKenzie comes back into her life she’s reminded of all that went wrong, and all that she lost.

Will Katie ever begin to heal? Or will her secrets and loss be too much for her to overcome?

Perhaps, this is her kismet.

“Sorry, but sucking off a narcissistic asshole who’s so damn drunk he can’t recall the words to his own song is not my idea of a good time.”
His bark of laughter echoed in the empty hall. “You really are a ray of sunshine, aren’t you?”
God, what a terrible idea this had been. Hoping to put some distance between them, Emma Travers quickened her pace, only to stumble over the uncustomary height of the heels her best friend Alison had convinced her to wear. Her ankle screamed in protest, forcing her to skid to a halt. Balancing precariously so she didn’t face plant on the concrete, she struggled against the zippers, finally succeeding in pulling the rhinestone studded stilettos from her swollen feet. She barely resisted the urge to turn around and throw them at the head of the man who’d pissed her off faster than a Bugatti Veyron went from zero to sixty, and instead tossed them aside and continued her escape in bare feet.
“Come back and see me sometime, Emma,” Joe Campbell, lead singer of the British alternative metal band Blind Man's Alibi, called out to her.
Fat chance!
“I could use a bit of sunshine in my life.” The murmur hit her ears like a shout, and stopped her in her tracks.
Well, shit.
Emma remained rooted in place, unable to decide if he was for real or filling her with pretty words in order to get her to stay and sleep with him. He sounded sincere enough, but the only way to know for certain was to face him. Something she really didn’t want to do.
Not that he was painful to look at. Oh no, Joe Campbell was extremely pleasing to the eye, a fact he knew too well. One, she was certain, he used to his advantage whenever an occasion presented itself. Like tonight, when she’d gone against character and accepted his invitation backstage after the show.
One glimpse of the man who stood alone in the room she’d been unceremoniously delivered to and Emma went hot all over. Unable to speak, she’d allowed her gaze to take a long, slow journey over his body. His torso was bare, giving her an unobstructed view of hardened pecs, a flat washboard stomach and muscles that rippled and shifted, making the Chinese dragon wrapped around his left upper arm and onto his chest seem alive as he slipped his left hand into the front pocket of his jeans. Dear God, those jeans! The way they hung on his lean hips, the top button undone like he’d just pulled them on. They rode so low there was no mistaking that underneath them he was commando. Her gaze had locked on the obvious bulge behind his fly and, for a moment, she’d actually considered dropping to her knees before him and taking a taste.
Then he’d opened his mouth. What was that saying? Elvis has left the building. She was outta there.
With a deep breath for courage, Emma turned around and was greeted by the same image of the man as before. Except that the whiskey bottle he’d held in his right hand and lifted to those delectable lips too many times to count, was nowhere to be seen. Oh great, and the hulking brute who’d brought her backstage stood leaning against the wall to Joe’s right.
Gary, she was pretty certain he’d introduced himself as Gary, held his arms crossed before him, head tipped toward the floor in a pseudo relaxed pose designed to give the impression he hadn’t just heard every damn word they’d said. He blew the image to shit when he lifted his head and winked at her. Winked! Was everyone in the music industry completely bonkers?
Emma did her best to ignore the brute and focused on the singer. “You’re a real piece of work, you know that?”
“What did you expect?”
Good question.
“I guess I hoped the stage show was just that, a show, and that there was a decent guy behind all of that. Maybe I wanted to believe the ‘I’m too sexy for my own good’ attitude was just publicity.”
“Sorry to disappoint.” His tone didn’t sound regretful at all. He strode toward her, moved with such a fluid grace Emma’s heart thumped in response. His long legs closed the distance in half the time it had taken her to get this far. She made herself stand her ground as he stepped in close, closer than she’d yet allowed him to get. Close enough she caught the subtle hint of soap on his skin and whiskey on his breath.  “You’re right about one thing, I’m an asshole. But it wasn’t the alcohol that caused me to lose my words tonight, Emma Travers. It was you.”
His chin-length brown hair was nearly dry now and hung over his eyes as if windblown, though nary a wisp of air blew from the vents above. Eyes she was surprised to learn were two different colors—one brown, the other a mix of brown and green. “You excel at telling a girl what she wants to hear, I’ll give you that.”
His gaze didn’t flinch. “How can you doubt the truth? You were there, front row center. Close enough to touch me.” The soft timbre of his voice warmed her even more than the heat radiating off his skin. He fell silent, unmoving, as if he were waiting for something. What, she wasn’t certain. Unable to meet his gaze, she lowered hers and found herself transfixed by the movement of his Adam’s apple as he spoke. “All you had to do was reach out.”
An image of hands pawing and clutching at him whenever he’d trekked too close to the edge of the stage flashed through her mind. She swallowed hard, her mouth going dry, and shook her head. “Is that what you wanted me to do? Grope you like the other women in the audience? Do you actually enjoy that?”
“Not particularly.”
“Yet you expect me to believe that, for some unknown reason, you wanted me to touch you?”
“You stood out from the crowd. Not singing, not screaming, just standing in the front row. It was impossible not to notice you. I wondered why you were at the show, You didn’t seem to be having a good time. Then you smiled at me…my mind blanked.”
What the hell was she supposed to say to that? Thanks for noticing me?
“I was feeding you lines and you just stood there, staring.” Much the same way as she was doing now. Christ, he was beautiful. Her fingers itched with the need to trace his lips, his mustache, the little hairless spots on the outside of his bottom lip and that sexy as hell strip of facial hair that went from the center of his full lower lip down, to blend into his short trimmed beard.
Her throat went dry as dust. “Why me? I’m not actually supposed to believe you saw me and lost your place, am I?”
“That’s what happened.” His words were matter-of-fact, meant to be believed. “You know it’s true, you were there.”
Emma shook her head.
“Contrary to what you think, I was not too drunk to remember the lyrics. You see, I’m an accomplished drinker. I’ve been at it a long time. Long enough to know that forgetting the words to one of my songs is about as never-going-to-happen as forgetting how to please a woman.”
“Why what, Sunshine?”
“Why are you a practiced drunk? Is that all you do, spend your free time partying?”
“Interesting. You don’t question my forgetting how to please a woman?”

“Hah! You could probably pull that off if you were comatose.”

So Wrecked by Sarah Grimm is the first book I have read from this author and let me just tell you the book’s title matches what it will do to your emotions. I was so wrecked and ugly crying by the end of Emma and Joe’s story the way that the book  ends does leave it open for another book and I truly hope that she does write another to this group of characters that I have just fell in love with.  I loved Emma and how she was so bright and tried to be so strong and not let anyone know what was going on with her.  She kind of went from this scared girl to a wonderful woman who pulled Joe from a darkness he fell into but also showed him that he didn’t want to be where he was when he found her.  Joe transformed so much in this book he started off as such a cocky ass that I wasn’t sure if I was going to like him or not but as his and Emma’s relationship grew so did he I can’t believe how strong he was at the end when he but what Emma wanted over what he wanted.

He crawled over her body, then leaned in and licked her bottom lip. Her eyes closed and she parted them, allowing him access to her waiting tongue. While their tongues explored each other in eager swirls, Chase’s hands kneaded her breasts, feeling her nipples harden against the palms of his hands. His hands slid to her back and, with precision, he unhooked her bra, pulling it away and releasing her breasts. Glancing down, a moan escaped him in response to the sight of her beautiful, plumped breasts and tight, pink nipples. “You have magnificent tits, Miss Fox.” His mouth moved back and forth, from one nipple to the other, as he licked and sucked them insatiably. Her moans of pleasure rang out through the room, making his lust for her hard to control. His balls throbbed almost painfully. Fisting his cock, he stroked a few times to give himself a moment of relief. He had extraordinary stamina, but she was going be the death of him.

Her eyes slowly opened as she felt his heat at her back. He hadn’t touched her but she knew he was standing there; she could smell his scent in the air and hear each breath he exhaled, after breathing her in. “Mason.” “Give me a moment of your time,” Mason pleaded, as he pressed his body against her back. “Yes,” she agreed, enjoying the feel of him molded to her. “Sugar, I need you,” he said, with his lips against to the shell of her ear, “Say you need me too, put us back together where we belong.” “Mason…” He tightened his grip around her waist, “At least say you’ll think about the idea of us, before you say no.” Mikala couldn’t give him an answer, as she stood silent listening to each breath he took in, feeling it warm on her skin with each breath out. The feel of his disappointment as his body retreated from hers, made her want to reach out and pull him close, but she resisted the urge and turned in his arm before they dropped to his side. “I won’t give up on us,” he told her.
Landon’s Desire, The Pulse Series Book 3
Landon Cover Final
Ex-cop Landon Kyle came to Boston to help a friend in need and eventually head up security at Pulse nightclub. Ready and willing to escape his nightmares once and for all, he packed his entire life into a single duffle bag and headed east. What he discovered when he arrived at Pulse was an equally appealing prospect, by the name of Carl Ward.
Landon had his sights set on the lead bartender, who happened to be in complete denial of his sexuality, but Landon would not be dissuaded in his pursuit. He vowed he would convince Carl to take a chance on him and ultimately win his heart. Could Carl be persuaded to follow his heart and realize the truth?
Carl Ward liked his cozy little life the way it was, his past and demons safely hidden behind the gruff exterior he had managed so well, then came Landon, big burly and annoyingly sexy as hell to shake up his world. What Carl believed to be all he needed, was about to be challenged by Landon’s Desire.
Warning: Due to use of adult language and graphic M/M sexual content, which may offend certain readers, this novel is not recommended for readers under 18 years or those who have issues with homosexuality and the real world.
Landon Teas1
Stepping closer testing the waters, Landon swallowed back the urge to dart forward and rip the robe from Carl’s body. Instead, he circled around him like a lion prowling his kill. Standing at his back he leaned forward and scented him, he smelled of manly perspiration and oranges. “Ace?” “Uh huh.” “Are you sniffing me?” “You smell like an orange.” “It’s Bergamot oil, it’s a neuro-tonic, helps fight depression, fatigue and frustration,” Carl said, with a laugh. Carl wasn’t bolting, wasn’t moving at all and Landon couldn’t resist asking, “Does that include sexual frustration?” “It may, it has many valuable properties.” Landon continued his slow quest until he stood face to face with Carl. He lifted his hand to the lapel of Carl’s robe and ran his finger down to the loop at his waist. He gave it a tug and Carl’s eyes dropped to Landon’s hand and darted back to his face. “You’re not running.” “No, I guess I’m not.” Landon smiled. “Do you like games Carl?” Landon asked, moving into Carl’s most private space, noting Carl swallowing hard. “It depends on the game,” Carl answered. “Do you like to try new things, are you the adventurous type?” “I don’t know,” he answered truthfully. “Maybe…?” “That’s not an answer,” Landon said, leaning into Carl’s ear. “You want to play a game with me, Carlton?” “I don’t know.” “Again, that’s not an answer,” Landon said, the corner of his mouth connecting with the lobe of Carl’s ear causing him to flinch. “If I promise to keep my dick in my pants, will you play my game?” “Ace, what are you doing?” Carl asked, as a rush of hot air from Landon’s breath collided with the flesh under his ear, sending a spark reeling from his head to his toes. “This is a game of trust,” he whispered. “I think you’ll like this game as much as I will, there are a few rules though.” “Rules? What kind of rules? I’m not going to be happy am I? You’re going to fuck with me aren’t you?” Carl asked, full of cynicism. “Relax, Babes, I’d never hurt you, I want you to trust me,” Landon pulled back to see trepidation on Carl’s face. “Don’t fear me, just feel.”

Author Spotlight: Dawn Sullivan

1. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I have always had a story or ten running around in my head. Even when I was a child, I would make up stories, pretending I was the main character in them, normally kicking ass and falling in love.
2. How long does it take you to write a book?
It just depends on if my characters are talking. Sometimes it takes a couple of months, sometimes a year. I also write several books at once, so it can take longer when I am jumping back and forth before I pick one story and run with it.
3. What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
I have a full time job, a hubby, and three beautiful children, which makes finding time to write difficult at times. Normally I work during the day, spend time with my family afterwards, and write late into the night.
4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I have notebooks for every book I write…that’s a lot of notebooks because as soon as I know a character will have their own story in the future, I start a notebook for them.
5. Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
I always have some character wanting their own story, and my active imagination comes up with one for them.
6. When did you write your first book and how old were you?
Even though I have always had stories running through my head, I had never actually written any of them down until Nico’s Heart. That was just a couple of years ago.
7. What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Read, watch NCIS, spend time with the family. I really don’t have a lot of free time.
8. What does your family think of your writing?
They are all very supportive. My mother reads everything I write, and she has her friends at work hooked on my RARE Series. Some of my aunts and cousins read all of my books as well. My husband has always been one of my biggest supporters. I am very blessed to have him by my side through this journey.
9. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
Nothing too surprising just yet, except that I can write a book without action, suspense, and sex. I was a bit worried when I started my first Christian Romance, but the words flowed just as easily for that sweet romance as they do for my cowboys and shifters.
10. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I now have eight books out, seven under Dawn and a Christian Romance under a pen name.
11. Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
What I tell everyone is always follow your dreams. Believe in yourself as you will go far. Actual suggestions to becoming a better writer-I would have to say to make sure you do your research. Yes, we write fiction, but there are some things that you need to make sure you follow up on before you publish. Editing is also very important, but above all else, have fun!
12. Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I do, and I love it! They message me to tell me how much they enjoyed one of my series, and it seriously makes my day. I have several who have actually become good friends after contacting me.
13. Do you like to create books for adults?
I love it! I love to spin a tale and I never know going into writing a new book, exactly what the outcome is going to be. I may have an idea, but my characters can take me to a totally different direction than I originally thought I was going. It’s a lot of fun, and I don’t ever see myself stopping. I have several characters out there that need their own happily ever after.
14. What do you think makes a good story?
There are so many things that make a good story, and the answer is probably different for everyone. I love a lot of action and suspense in mine. I like to read a book that keeps me guessing and enthralled the whole time. I also love romance. If a book doesn’t have at least a hint of romance in it, I normally won’t read it.
15. As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I wanted to be a teacher. One of my aunts is a teacher and is a huge inspiration to many of her students. I have always admired her, and I wanted to teach and help children the way she does.
I have a wonderful, supportive husband and three beautiful children. I enjoy spending time with all of them which normally involves some baseball, shooting hoops, taking walks, watching movies, and of course reading.
My passion for reading began at a very young age and only grew over time. Whether I was bringing home a book from the library, or sneaking one of my mom's romance novels and reading by the light in the hallway when we were supposed to be sleeping, I always had a book.
I read several different genres and subgenres, but Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense have always been my favorites. I read anything by Katie Reus, Lora Leigh, J.R. Ward and Rebecca Zanetti.
I have always made up my own stories, and have just recently decided to start sharing them. I hope everyone enjoys reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
